Hair loss and me!

January 7th, 2008

Hair is an enduring obsession with me as you may have noticed and it’s not without reason. There was a time when my hair used to be the cynosure of all eyes now any female hair is the envy of my eyes.

There’s never a day post-baby that I wonder what can be done to stop my hair from parting company with me. I do follow a few rigorous routines to maintain my now-scanty mane and it’s managed to stop any further hair loss. But I still wonder whether there are any magic tips to make hair grow like a corn crop on the plains.

Sigh, sigh wish, wish.

Any how, here is my maintenance routine for healthy hair,

  • Use the right shampoo for your hair type and shampoo as many times as you need to. Oily hair may need to be washed at least three times a week.
  • Use a mild shampoo which contains sodium lauryl sulphate. These can be used to clean hair everyday.
  • Don’t change dye brands. Follow a single coloring regimen to prevent damage to hair shafts.
  • Don’t over do the use of hair products; a good conditioner or a leave in conditioner followed by a serum application is more than enough.
  • If possible, stick to the use of the natural conditioner and shampoo product which I prescribed in the previous post.

Binge eating

January 1st, 2008

People are binge eaters, eat whether they are hungry or not, and continue eating well past being uncomfortably full. If you’ve ever over eaten at Christmas time then you know what I’m talking about. Remember that disgusting bloated feeling which took three days of fasting and walking to wear off. Each year, more than 5 million Americans are affected by serious life-threatening eating disorders such as binge eating and they are so correlated that it’s not unusual to see a binge eater combined with anorexia to form an amalgam of diseases.

We live in a world, which is continuously obsessed with outer body appearance. If you are one of the lucky ones born beautiful, good for you! However, what about the innumerable more, who are born just average? In an effort to look impossibly thin, they resort to crash diets. Early researches hint that about half of all people with binge eating disorder had binge episodes before they started to diet and strict dieting worsened the binge eating in some people.

Up to half of all people with binge eating disorder had a history of depression. Whether depression was a cause or effect of binge eating disorder is still unclear. Many people state that anger, sadness, boredom, anxiety or other negative emotions can trigger a binge episode. Impetuous behavior and other psychological problems are also more common in people with binge eating
